Noto Notepad — Your private, secure note companion
📅 Effective Date: June 2025
Thank you for choosing Noto Notepad — your smart, secure, and private note-taking companion. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being fully transparent about how we handle your information.
This Privacy Policy applies to the Noto Notepad mobile application and describes what data we collect (spoiler: almost nothing), how we use it, and your rights as a user.
✅
Simple promise: Your notes belong to you. We never read, sell, or share your personal data.
Noto Notepad is built with a privacy-first approach. Here's exactly what we do and don't collect:
-
🚫
No Personal InformationWe do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personally identifiable information.
-
🚫
No Note ContentYour note content, images, and voice recordings are stored only on your device and never transmitted to our servers.
-
⚠️
Crash Reports (Anonymous)We may collect anonymous crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs. These reports contain device type and OS version — never your notes or personal data.
All your data lives on your device. We follow a strict local-first approach:
-
📱
Local Storage OnlyNotes, images, tags, and settings are stored in your device's internal storage using a secure local database (Room/SQLite).
-
🔐
Note LockingYou can lock individual notes using a PIN or biometric authentication (fingerprint/face). Locked note content is never readable without authentication.
-
☁️
No Cloud UploadWe do not upload your notes to any server. Future optional cloud sync (if added) will be opt-in and clearly disclosed.
Noto Notepad requests only the permissions it needs to function. Here's what each permission is used for:
-
🎤
MicrophoneUsed only for the voice-to-text feature when you tap the Voice button. We never record audio in the background.
-
🖼️
Storage / Media AccessRequired to attach images to your notes from your gallery. Images are copied to app-private storage.
-
🤚
Biometric / FingerprintUsed only for note lock/unlock via fingerprint or face recognition. Biometric data never leaves your device.
-
🌐
InternetUsed for crash reporting (anonymous), in-app updates, and in-app review prompts. Never used to transmit note content.
We use a minimal set of trusted third-party services to keep the app stable and up to date:
